I hereby grant permission for the above described entry to be included in the 2002 Alaska Dyeworks traveling exhibit. There is no restriction on photography for this piece by individuals for their own enjoyment. Promotional photography for the exhibit is permitted. I, ______________________________________________, for myself and for all those claiming through me, hereby release Alaska Dyeworks from any and all liability of any and every nature in connection with the use of the above described challenge entry. Challenge entry will be returned to me in fall of 2003, if it is chosen for inclusion in the traveling exhibit. If entry is not chosen for traveling, it will be returned in late 2002.

2002 QUILT CHALLENGE RULES

FABRIC: Winter -- an 8 piece series -- in the fat quarter size (18" x 22" approximately) and 1/2 yard of 0300 Rust Background fabric will be used for this year’s challenge.

PARTICULARS:
  1. 100 Percent of the top must be challenge fabric.
  2. Size is not to exceed 36" x 36" (144" linear), and may be any shape. It must be easily packable for shipping to other shops for trunk show.
  3. The quilt must consist of three layers, and must be hand or machine quilted. It may be embellished. Only finished projects will be accepted.
  4. There must be a recognizable amount of each piece of challenge fabric in the entry.
  5. Add a 3" sleeve to the top back for hanging. Sleeve is to be attached on both long sides so it is securely attached to back.
  6. Only one entry per person will be accepted.
  7. Label the entry on bottom, back corner permanently with your name, address, and title of entry. Since we identify pieces by name for judging and return shipment, the same full name and address must be used on the entry as well as on the entry form. Identifying label must be readily visible. Iron-on does not hold sufficiently.
  8. No other fabrics may be added.
  9. Your entry must be received by Alaska Dyeworks (address above) no later than October 1, 2002. No late entries will be accepted.
  10. Entries will be selected for a traveling exhibit during 2002-2003. Therefore, we must keep the selected entries for at least one year. Those not selected for the traveling exhibit will be returned in the winter of 2002, or as soon as possible, thereafter.
  11. An entry fee of $15.00 is to accompany the official entry form when you send your entry. See Entry Form. This fee is to help with costs of returning entries at the conclusion of the traveling exhibit and for informational correspondence. Foreign entries should send $25.00. Entry forms must be properly completed and accompany your entry in the shipping carton.
  12. We will do our best to protect your quilt. It will be insured when we return it to you, or when it is in transit on exhibit. Some exhibit locations have insurance, while others do not. Therefore, we recommend that you cover your entry through your Homeowner’s Policy.
  13. Winning entries will receive cash and fabric prizes from Alaska Dyeworks. The winner of each category will receive $100 cash and a 1/2 yard, 8 step, one or two color progression fabric bundle ($47.46 value).
  14. Mail order of fabric: If you are unable to obtain the challenge fabric from your local quilt shop, you may mail order it from Alaska Dyeworks, address and phone above. The fabric cost is $36.55 plus $6.05 postage, insurance, and handling per order. We expect to have sufficient fabric on reserve to satisfy all requests.
  15. Entries will be judged resulting in one winner for each of these categories: Pieced, Applique, and Art. Judges decisions will be final.
